New Sandwich 1931

This recipe was adapted from White Lily Flour Cook Book 1931

New Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of pineapple, drained

  • 1 slice of pimento (roasted red pepper will also work), drained

  • Boiled salad dressing (see recipe below)

Instructions:
Cut bread in rounds size of sliced pineapple. Coat well with dressing; place pineapple onto bread, then slice of pimento, and the second slice of pineapple. You could toast the bread before assembling but I kind of liked the soft bread with these ingredients.

Plus up ideas: Tajín, Li Hing Mui plum powder, 1/4 tsp of freshly grated ginger

Boiled Salad Dressing

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg

  • ¾ cup white sugar 2 teaspoons mustard¼ teaspoon pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons Purity Flour

  • 1 tablespoon butter

    1 cup each of milk, water and vinegar

    Instructions:
    Beat egg, add sugar, mustard, butter, flour and seasonings; then add liquids gradually and cook in double boiler until thick.

Plus up ideas: Tajín or Li Hing Mui (salted plum) powder.
