Luncheon Sandwich 1920
This recipe was adapted from the Calendar of Sandwiches and Beverages
Tuna Sandwich
Ingredients:
2 slices of bread, buttered
2 slices of Gruyere cheese
1 slice of ham (or enough to create a single layer of ham)
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
salt
Beat egg and milk together, season with salt. On slice of buttered bread place a slice of Gruyere cheese. Top with a layer of ham and another layer of Gruyere cheese. Top with second slice of buttered bread, buttered side down. Dip sandwich in egg and milk mixture, then fry in hot butter until golden brown on both sides.
