Scotch Woodcock 1884

This recipe was adapted from Breakfast Dishes

Scotch Woodcock

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread

  • Butter

  • Anchovy paste

  • 2 egg yolks

  • 1/4 cup milk

    Toast and butter both slices of bread. Cover one side thinly with anchovy paste, put the toasts together. In a small saucepan over a low flame, beat 2 eggs yolks well. Whisk in milk and cook until thickened but not to boil.

    Pour over the toast and enjoy (?)

    Plus up ideas: Any salt-free seasoning blend or vinegar based hot sauce.
