Broiler Sandwich 1948

This recipe was adapted from Watkins Cook Book

Broiler Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound hamburger

  • 1/2 cup water

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 tablespoon chopped onions

  • 1 slice of bread toasted on one side

Toast bread slices only on one side.

Spread the untoasted side with generous amount of soft butter, then a little prepared mustard.

Spread the above blended mixture on untoasted slice, cover well. Add ½ teaspoon of butter to top each sandwich. Broil under moderate heat 5 minutes for rare meat, 6 for medium, 7 for well done. Add dash Watkins Paprika, serve at once.

Plus up ideas: Honestly, anything you can plus this up a bunch of different ways. I added bacon, melted cheddar, and pickles to make it a bacon cheeseburger but go nuts.
